Those things you never do.....

I never go to the ballet or the theatre. And I want to. I missed out on the nutcracker at the Sydney Opera House. It was disappointing. I saw it once when I was little. There is a story here but its embarrassing so I won't tell you. I would really like to go and see Love, loss and what I Wore. Its starting soon at the Opera House and sounds like its right up my alley.

I never go to Pilates or yoga. I want to. I've been before. I enjoyed it. I secretly want someone to come with me. I tried convincing my Gal R to come but she's hung up on aqua aerobics. I need to do the Pilates to be seen in my swimmers to do aerobics. Got it?

I really want to be one of those people who has nice canisters with sugar, flour, tea whatever. All matching. I want the Nigella blue ones. But I need around 20 of them so it would be a bit pricey. I really don't like my unmatched pantry. Its obviously not a huge issue but it bothers me. I just don't ever do anything about it. The intention is there though.

At this time of year I really wish I had organised some charity work. Help at a soup kitchen on Christmas eve. I just never do it. I should. I will.

I was saying to my Mum yesterday, we really should spend one Christmas away with my family at a beach house somewhere lovely. We could have a seafood lunch by the sea. I can picture it in my mind but we don't ever organise it. We say we will. We just don't. Then December rolls around and we think, "Oh yeah... that great idea."

I wish I would print all our photo's and put them into albums. Matching albums from Symthson of Bond St preferably. Get your act together lady.

I would like to start a grown up drinks cabinet situation. Then I could offer you a gin martini next time you come over. Just sayin'.

I wish I would buy things when I see them. Don't buy for an occasion - buy what you love when you see it. I read that in Vogue once and it made perfect sense. I just don't do it. I can see myself regretting a navy striped jacket from Alannah Hill I recently tried on and didn't buy.

So basically I feel bad because I haven't done any Christmas shopping and it has reminded me of all the other stuff I never do. But want to. Hopefully next year I can tick something off my list. Maybe I can go to Pilates on my way to buying some canisters, and get a start on next years Christmas presents. Or I could go back to watching Toddlers and Tiara's. Whatever. x

So I'm feeling a little deflated. The house is quiet and clean. The tables are stacked, waiting to be picked up and oh yeah, I'm thirty now. The weather was not on my side as they say at tennis matches. It poured all day and was 9 degrees. So plan b involved us all squishing inside. My visions of croquet on the lawn did not eventuate. Lets just say it was intimate.

I am sharing a few pictures of my lovely soiree. I hope you like them.

I had a wonderful weekend and am truly lucky to have such a wonderful group of friends who I count as family.

I 'll take warm weather for ten points.

Its 7 degrees here right now. I have clearly jinxed mother nature by putting away our winter woollies and spring cleaning. I accidentally left our bedroom window open all night. I was wondering why I was cold...We had a smoke alarm issue at 5am. Turns out Bella is scared of smoke alarms. She was shaking like a leaf. Either that or she was cold too. This is a picture of her sleeping in our bed. I know its really bad but she was scared. Note the bed head look, she pulls it off well don't you think?

I am rethinking my garden party concept for this weekend. Its more than likely going to be an indoor party with the fire on, pretend your outside party. It will be cosy. I can change our pimms to mulled wine and hope everyone drinks a lot. Should be ok. My friends like to drink. I don't take it personally.

Just a little to note to my gal R hoping everything is ok and that we are thinking of her and her family. Wishing I lived closer so I could give you a hug and a bon bon. Love you x

I'm hoping this dining room will transform into a winterwonderland. Pronto. Damn you pinecones - where are you when I need you?

We are counting down the days till my new favourite holiday. Can't you see the excitement?

Well done R for reminding me of my new fav reality show. Loving Famer wants a Wife. Its the new Master chef. I know I have an unhealthy appetite for reality tv. I've tried counselling.

Things are ticking along nicely for Xmas in July. My grandma is disappointed her bowling club did not take her suggestion about Christmas in July seriously.Next year. She'll get them.
My little bo bo has a limpy leg again. It breaks my heart.
Have a thousand cuts from pruning rose bushes. Why why why do I try to garden.
Have moved furniture around while hubby was at work. He hasn't noticed yet. My back is sore. There may be a few scratches on our floor boards. I blame the dog.
My friend A and I have had a lovely chat just about nothing and it made my day.

So dinner was delicious - but the pics I took as evidence of delicious dinner aren't so impressive. Only pic suitable for publishing is of dessert.
